10. Fantastic Mr Fox

Although you can hardly accuse Wes Craven’s movies of being forgotten, this one is often forgotten as one of his creations- a strange animated adaptation of the dark Roal Dahl children’s novel, it features gorgeously retro animation and some stellar voice acting by George Clooney as the Mr Fox of the title. Subversive, dark, and funny, this tends to be written off as a child’s film when it proves time and again that it’s far more than that.

    I am perplexed that while some of these are horror movies that are certainly very good, and a couple of them Australian, that there is no mention of “The Snowtown Murders”. Both disturbing and compelling, the movie is based on true events and leaves the viewer far more disturbed than the excellent “Wolf Creek”.

    One of my favorite movies of all time is “Big Man on Campus.” If you happened to catch it on TV as a kid chances are you can still quote the whole movie. Got a 6 out of 10 on IMdb, despite being virtually unknown.
