I only include this film, bot because it’s neglected, but because it’s often mis-sold- mis-sold as a mindless slasher thanks to the slew of sequels that matched that description. The first Saw film is, however, more in the vein of Se7en- a violent psychological thriller based around characters as opposed to actions. The plot twists and turns till the very last moment, and you’ll find yourself wondering where it got it’s bad reputation from. Throw in a cracking score from talented composer Charlie Clouser and this one will find a permanent spot on your DVD shelf.
