So, you’ve probably been meaning to get round to watching Dario Argento for a while now, right? I’d suggest you make your first attempt at his work the brilliant The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, widely considered the Italian horror maestro’s finest movie. After a young man witnesses the murder of a girl by a wanted serial killer, he finds himself in their sights- it’s a beautiful-looking film, full of Argento’s signature visual quirks and his uncanny knack for building tension.

    I am perplexed that while some of these are horror movies that are certainly very good, and a couple of them Australian, that there is no mention of “The Snowtown Murders”. Both disturbing and compelling, the movie is based on true events and leaves the viewer far more disturbed than the excellent “Wolf Creek”.

    One of my favorite movies of all time is “Big Man on Campus.” If you happened to catch it on TV as a kid chances are you can still quote the whole movie. Got a 6 out of 10 on IMdb, despite being virtually unknown.
