It might seem strange to cast this as a feel-good film when the first thing the main character does is try to commit suicide- but you can’t deny the entrancing charm of this heavenly blend of humour, pathos, and Jimmy Stewart. As the lead, Stewart is the ultimate evreyman- beaten down, worn out, and with little to hold on to- and his transformation as the film evolves is really something to behold. Unmissable thanks to it’s sweet-but never saccharine- attitude.
