You just can’t go wrong with Jodie Foster, whatever age she is- and this movie is further proof that she was one to watch even in her adolescence. After storming screens with an amazing performance in Taxi Driver, Foster cropped up in this strange mix of horror, romance, thriller and mystery. Featuring Foster as a mysterious adolescent with a horrible secret, who continually finds herself at odds with the local townsfolk who are keen to know exactly why she’s living alone. Overshadowed by her previous and following movies, Foster’s performance here is truly stunning, standing up to cinematic stalwarts like Martin Sheen with ease. Tense, disturbing, strange, and more than a little creepy, this is the kind of film you’ll find yourself thinking about for weeks later.
