8. The Happening

It’s tragically easy for a once-great director to lose his way-as evidenced by M. Night Shayamalan (director of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, et al) and his dramatic fall from grace with The Happening. Starring a shockingly terrible Zooey Deschanel and Mark Walhberg (though who ever claimed either of them could act, really?), Shayamalan claimed it was a throwback to retro disaster movies- but that wasn’t enough to excuse to lazy environmental theme and dull plot.

OK, wait a minute. You put in “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and leave out “Robot Monster”??? No “Star Crash”? “Galaxy of Terror”? “Gymkata”? And who can forget “The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!?” (no matter how much we want to)? “Glen or Glenda”? “Reptilicus”? ” Not to mention about half of the Troma library.

      Wait, I love Gymkata…lol

Anybody see “Freddy Got Fingered?”…That’s what I thought

I think ” The Sound of Music” with Julie Andrews should be on this list because it really sucked.

This list is slightly misleading and a bit confused – The title says “Top 10 Films You Love to Hate,” but then a lot on the list are dismissed as “dull.” Plan 9, The Room, Troll 2 seem appropriate for this list as they all exude their own charm and perfect shit storm of failure…Norbit, The Happening, and Matrix Revolutions do not…They’re just bad, boring movies.

“Shi*Hole Island, “The Shi* and The Whale”,”The Shi* Pirates of the Caribbean 1-30″

I enjoy a really bad film – like Battlefield Earth. It’s amazing how much fun it can be to watch these train wrecks.

Uh, not a fan of the original Matrix? I have to tap out.
